Leicester Square Theatre: Review

“A day without laughter is a day wasted.”

Charlie Chaplin

A view of the auditorium.

One thing that I love doing every month or so is going to the Theatre.

Now, swaggering on down to the latest West end show or the newest Opera at Covent Garden isn’t always a viable option during this delicate time of the New Year.

But, there is a place that awaits you within the streets of London, in the heart of the hubub of Leicester Square. A place where you can recline in your comfy chair and laugh away to gloriously entertaining comedy nights alongside a beverage in your hand.

At the wonderful Leicester Square Theatre you are bound to find something there that will entertain you at a reasonable price.

Last month my friend, my guide dog Unity and little old me embarked on a Sunday night trip to the small, cosy theatre to see Helen Keen’s Spacetacular. And what a splendid evening it was!

On booking the tickets the staff in the box office were so accommodating towards me and my guide dog, evening giving me spacious seats next to the bar! Which I admit was maybe a slight bad influence on me.

The website is very accessible and there is a section which explains how to make an access booking alongside all the information of access related information. You must inform the booking office of your Guide Dog’s (or assistance dog’s) attendance so they can make the proper arrangements. Your canine friend can either be allowed to remain with you during the performance, or taken care of during the performance by a member of staff.

For visually impaired people I would highly recommend this theatre if your looking for a reasonably priced, social, fun night out in London.

How to get there?

Walking-It is ten minutes walk from Charing Cross Overground Station and a very straightforward route. You cross the road outside of the station turn left, make a right turn once you come to the end of road, walk up, cross the road turn right and keep walking down…from then I’d ask for directions.

The nearest station to the theatre is Leicester Square tube station (stairs and escalators available.)

Service of Staff: 5/5

They were very helpful during my booking via the telephone, as well for the service within the bar on the night.

Accessibility: 5/5

For a visually impaired person it was very accessibly, there were stairs. However, the lighting was good and within the auditorium there was a large amount of space for both myself and my guide dog to move in.

Quality of Entreatment:5/5

The show was amazing, I would definitely recommend anyone who is interested in space to see it.

The theatre hosts comedy nights, theatre, music and tours. Why not take a look?

Value for Money:5/5

For £12 for two tickets, (the theatre offers concessionary rates) it was a fantastic night. I will definitely be going again!
