Alchemy Oils Grapefruit Hair Remedy: Review

Greetings Readers!

Welcome to another blog post from me here at!

Today I have a new review for you all and something that I hope many of you will find useful and interesting.

Now seeing as we the days are getting colder and we now find ourselves turning up our heating a tad each morning and having more steaming hot showers it can not only play havoc with our skin, but also our hair.

Yes, this time of year is really very difficult for our hair, the changes in temperature combined with the blustering wind can really leave our hair feeling brittle, dry and completely depleted of nourishment.

So when it comes to the time when you want to prep your hair into a glamorous beehive or a sleek vintage inspired curl you may find that it simply isn’t feeling at its best.

Which is where I hope this review will help some of you, now recently I was sent a product made by a company called Alchemy Oils. Who specialise in making specially developed hair oils to condition, strengthen and improve your hair all with natural ingredients.

I was sent a few weeks ago a product called the Grapefruit Hair Remedy which today I am going to be reviewing and telling you all how it can help you during this time of year.

So, sit back relax and enjoy!

Please Note: Whilst this product was sent to me, all comments I pass are unbiased and fair to the brand and to you as readers.

My Thoughts

One of the things that I first noticed when I opened the bottle was both how generously sized it was for the price, but also the delightful fruity aroma that hits you when you first open it.

Grapefruit has always been one of my favourite fruity scents as it is very uplifting, pleasant and has some great benefits to the hair including giving your hair moisture and shine.

The oil itself acts as a pre treatment before you wash your hair, you simply pour a very small amount on your palm (Please not that you may have to proceed with caution as the bottle is help with a wooden cork.) You then work it into your scalp and ends and leave in your hair for as long as you feel necessary. Sometimes I would leave it in for half an hour when I got up in the mornings, but on other occasions when I had used heat styling products on my hair like strangeness or a hair dryer I would leave the product in over night and then wash and condition my hair as usual in the morning.

What I really like about this product is that it acts to moisturise your hair, so for me personally it meant that I wasn’t having to use quite as much conditioner in the shower. Whats more, one thing I am not a huge fan of is using oils after washing your hair as I never feel that my hair retains its curls after using a hair oil. Which is why I have become particularly fond of this treatment as it allows me to still use a hair oil but to wash it out afterwards.

You can also use it on damp hair, although for me personally I would not recommend it if your hair is prone to getting oily at the roots very easily.

This is a product designed for all hair types and as you use this product you will find which way is the best to use it for your hair type.

It is made with natural ingredients with no added chemicals, meaning that this is the perfect product if you want to ensure that your hair remains healthy and free from the synthetic stuff!

After around a week of using this I begun to notice changes in my hair, I found not only that I wasn’t getting as many tangles or fly aways but my hair has retained its moisture desire being put through many temperature changes.

I particularly noticed that the ends of my hair feel a lot more strengthened and that they have retained some elasticity. As during the Winter my hair can be prone to getting week and brittle at the ends.

After using this product for two weeks I would defiantly recommend this product to anyone who seeks to find a hair treatment to use pre wash that will help your hair if it can feel dry during this Autumn/Winter months.

And now for the final Fashioneyesta verdict….

Accessibility: 4/5

I would definitely say that this is a bottle which is distinctive in shape, the product is held in a glass bottle. Whist for some people with sight loss this may be a slight concern, I find it useful as I personally do not own a product in a bottle of this shape, size or quality. Whats more the wooden cork with acts as the stopper for this product is also very distinctive in shape and texture.

The text on the front of the bottle is relatively large and easy to read, however I feel that the lack of braille on the product does cause me to deduct a mark.

I would also recommend that Alchemy Oils consider adding the application information to the actual website to ensure that their visually impaired customers know how to use the product successfully and get the most out of it.

Ease of Application: 4/5

The product is easy to apply to the hair and only a small amount is needed, however I feel that it may be difficult to measure the right content out for someone with sight loss.

One recommendation to the company would be to incorporate a pipette with the bottle so that if someone is sight impaired they will be able to measure out quantities a little more easily.

However, despite this the product is very easy to use on your hair and as it is a pre wash treatment it mens that you can afford to be a little messy when applying it.

Value for Money: 5/5

This is definitely a great product for the amount it retails at, the bottle is of a generous size and the ingredients used are rich and have excellent benefits for the hair. Whats more, you only need to use a small amount per treatment, which means that this bottle could in affect last you for the entire Autumn/Winter.

If you decide to buy this product you will be able to judge how many times to use this treatment a week to gain a better idea of how long it will last.

But, considering there are other products on the market which retail in the £25 and above region I wold say this product is definitely worth the money.

Overall Quality: 5/5

What can I say? This product has a delightful scent, uses highly nourishing ingredients that work to strengthen and improve your hair.

The treatment is pragmatic in the sense that you can wash it off after using it. This is without a doubt a great hair treatment to invest in for this Autumn to keep your hair hydrated, strong and looking fantastic for the upcoming months of central heating, hair styling and blustery Autumn walks!

So that wraps it up for another blog post today my friends!

I really hope you enjoyed it and that this has given you some insight into how you can keep your hair in check this season.
