The Be My Eyes App

Greetings Readers!

Welcome back to!

Today I wanted to do a little blog about an App that has recently come to my attention that I thought would be of great interest to any of my readers with sight loss.

Of course you may already know about this app and thus the information may be irrelevant, however if you are new to sight less or are not really used to iPhone technology this app may be of interest you you.

The App is called Be My Eyes, made by a Danish non profit organisation, the app has been designed to bring both sighted and non sighted people together in an online community to help people with sight loss to complete some of the day to day tasks they may have issues with like finding out what colour a dress is, knowing if a food item is out of date and other such tasks. I am sure you get the idea.

The app is a free online app (however you can elect to donate to the organisation) and you basically sight up, choose your preferred language sign up as either a vintner and by that I mean someone who wants to assist people with sight loss or someone who wishes to receive help. After that you will be connected to a group of people and whenever you need to get help with small tasks you will be able to with just a few taps of a button.

So, being able to perform every day tasks is now easier than ever before and if you want to help others with sight loss in they day to day lives you are able to also.

The reason I thought I would mention it as it came to my attention that this app may be very useful for those of you who want a little advice on matching clothing, identifying clothing items or colour coordination. If you are visually impaired and perhaps need to ask something like ‘does this bag match my dress?’ or ‘is this my blue coat’ this app may prove to be a very valuable source for you.

You can find the app over on the app store click here to view.

And click here to see their Questions and Answers page for more details.
