Fashioneyesta’s Make Your Own Hair Oils

Today I wanted to share with you a blog which I haven’t done in a while, as some of you may know i am a huge fan of making my own beauty products and using what you have in your kitchen to make them.

I have done previous ones in the past like making face masks and bath melts, but today I am going to be sharing with you some recipes for making your own hair treatments.

Below is a selection of hair treatments you can make yourself using a few simply products and there is bound to be one to suit your hair type whether your hair is long, short, fine, thick, oily, dry or maybe just feeling a bit unloved.

Hot Oil Treatment

FOR DRY/DAMAGED HAIR

Ingredients

  • 15ml jojoba oil
  • 10ml apricot kernel oil (or coconut oil if your hair is very dry)
  • 2 drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil

How To

  1. Combine the ingredients in a bottle and stir.
  2. Make sure the bottle cap is on securely. Place the bottle in a basin of hot (not boiling water and remove from the heat source) for 5-10 mins.
  3. Test temperature on the inside of your forearm to make sure it is not too hot.
  4. Massage half or all the mixture into the hair depending on length.
  5. Wrap hair in a hot towel or cover with a shower cap or cling film and leave for 15 minutes.
  6. Shampoo as normal and rinse out.

SUN PROTECTING HAIR OIL

Ingredients 

  • 10ml coconut oil
  • 10ml jojoba oil
  • 3 drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil

How To

  1. Add the oils and 2 drops of Ylang Ylang oil into a bottle and shake well to mix.
  2.  Apply a few drops of this to hair to protect the hair from the effects of the sun.
  3. Use sparingly or your hair will become greasy quicker.

WARM OIL SCALP TREATMENT FOR OILY HAIR

Ingredients 

  • 15ml jojoba oil
  • 10ml sunflower oil
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil

How To

  1. Combine the ingredients in a bottle.
  2. Make sure the bottle cap is on securely.
  3. Place the bottle in a basin of hot (not boiling water and remove from the heat source) for 5-10 mins.
  4. Test temperature on the inside of your forearm to ensure it is not too hot.
  5. Massage a teaspoon of the mixture into the scalp and leave for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Shampoo and rinse your hair thoroughly.

SUPER RICH SCALP MASSAGE OIL

Ingredients 

  • 10ml of jojoba oil
  • 5ml of avocado oil
  • 5ml of coconut oil
  • 5ml of olive oil
  • 2 drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil

How To 

  1. Add to a bottle
  2. Ensure that the cap is on securely
  3.  Place the bottle in a basin of hot (not boiling water and remove from the heat source) for 5-10 mins. Test temperature on the inside of your forearm.
  4. Massage a teaspoon of the mixture into the scalp and leave for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Shampoo and rinse thoroughly.
  6. Massage this into the hair from roots to tips regularly to improve the condition of your hair and to stimulate hair growth.
