Now I’m sure it will come as no surprise to many of you readers of my blog that I am an outright animal lover.
Having had cats, goldfish, hamsters, ferrets and of course dogs I know how important it is that every animal no matter what size, age or personality that have have a loving home with people that will care for them for life.
One of the things I love to see is when leading retailers and companies pair up with charities to help raise money and awareness of the cause or campaign. This year UK fashion company River Island have combined forces with UK dog charity Dogs Trust to create a campaign to raise funds for the charity and promote the message that a dog is for life and not for Christmas.
River Island want to home 1,200 unique, limited edition dog-equines on sale in stores across the UK in different designs and sizes and prices ranging between £6-£48. All of the proceeds made from sales of these little dog-equines will go directly to the charity. These dog-equines will be on sale from Monday 7th of December and are limited edition so after the last one has sold you won’t be able to get hold of them again.
The campaign is also aimed at reminding people that there are 100s of dogs who are in desperate need of caring homes. Knowing how much my two dogs (Unity and Freddy) mean to me I think this is an amazing campaign and really worthwhile supporting.
All animals are unique in their own way, each have different qualities that set them apart. Dogs are special for many reasons, they are very caring creatures, patient, gentle and attentive. Take Unity my guide dog for example, each day she gives me my freedom in exchange for food, protection and my unconditional love. My little pet dog Freddy, despite his barking and slobber is one of the most affectionate, funny and happy go lucky dogs I have ever come across. Dogs have the ability to enrich a person’s life and all they ask for in return is food, shelter, safety, care and love. It’s important to remember that these dogs are living, breathing and sentient creatures that deserve a good life.
A lot o the dog-equines are sold out, however it is worth popping into your local River Island to see if any are still available.
