Montagne Jeunesse Lavender and Jasmine Relaxing Spa Mud Mask: Review

Greetings Readers!

Welcome back to!

The other day I was browsing around Primark and when I was at the checkout with a basketful of goodies, I always pass a selection of Montagne Jeunesse face masks. You know, its like a ploy to tempt you into adding some extra goodies to your basket before they release you from their clutches.

I’ve always loved Montagne Jeunesse face masks for years, a sachet face mask retails for £1. Which is a great bargain for a face mask, they are made with essential oils, plant extracts and other ingredients and are also cruelty free.

I noticed that they had released a new face mask called the Relaxing Spa Mud Mask Lavender and Jasmine Face Mask, this is part of their mud mask range. Its a Spa themed face mask blended with lavender and jasmine essential oils.

This face mask really caught my eye, I’m a sucker for anything with the word ‘spa’ attached to it. Whats more, from my experience working at Lush, Jasmine and Lavender are to amazing ingredients to be found in skincare. Lavender is known for its calming and soothing properties and its holistic ability to help promote a better sleep. Jasmine is incredibly moisturising for the skin and facilitates for a relaxing experience when used. This face mask is more of an aromatherapy mask, as both key ingredients are beneficial when inhaled.

So, I decided to pick it up and give it a whirl. To really put this face mask to the test, I decided to wait for a day when my skin felt irritated and dry before using it.

Sunday of last week just happened to be that day, my skin felt inflamed, itchy and tight from dryness. Whats more, I was utterly exhausted from work the day before and so I figured it was time to indulge in a bath bomb, an audiobook and the face mask.

I applied it generously across my face and neck, avoiding the orbital bone around the eye area. The first thing I noticed when I applied the mask was the scent, now for me scent is very important in face masks as there isn’t any hiding from it whilst its on your face. A horrid smelling face mask is an assault on your nostrils!

However, this face mask had an absolutely lovely fragrance to it. The Jasmine and Lavender really worked in synergy with each other to create a floral scent that conjured images of holistic herbalists and spa retreats. Now, I can honestly say that this scent did conjure up the image of a spa in my mind. I can say that completely honestly with you, it does smell like a spa.

The face mask itself hardened as it is a clay based mud mask and mud masks by virtue of their nature do harden. However, once I rinsed it off I did feel a noticeable difference to my skin it no longer felt irritated or right. The inflammation and redness that had been aggravating my skin all day had significantly lessened. My skin did feel a lot softer and my skin tone appeared more even.

I absolutely loved this mask for its pleasant scent and the way it left my skin feeling afterwards. I was incredibly impressed with this face mask and its instantly shot to the top of my favourite ones from this company. I have used many over the years and this one for me was the most effective in results.

Accessibility: 3/5

In terms of the accessibility, the colour contrast and font size wasn’t always easy to read. As this is a sachet face mask you cannot exactly open it, smell it to work out if its the face mask you wanted and seal it again. As I am visually impaired myself, as many of you know accessibility is something I always consider with beauty brands. So, something I think this brand could utilise if a QR code with customers could scan with their iPhones to find out more information about the product they are holding.

Ease of Application: 4/5

This product was easy to apply, it hardened within 20 minutes and it gave effective results.

Value for Money: 5/5

For £1 (or £0.90p in Primark) I really don’t think you can complain. Considering some one use face masks retail for anything up to £5. Although you could certainly get more than one use out of this sachet if you so desired.

Overall Quality: 5/5

All in all, I was ver impressed with this face mask, it smelt incredible and it really improved the feel and the appearance of my skin in one use.

So, that concludes this little review today gang. I really hope you liked it, be sure to subscribe to my blog for further posts.

And I will see you all next time.
