Revisiting Neal’s Yard Remedies *

Greetings Readers!

Welcome back to!

Today I’m going to be chatting about one of my favourite topics and that is skin care! Skin care is something I’m hugely passionate about and spent a lot of time searching for new products to ensure my skin is looking at its best. I’m going to be revisiting an oldie but goodie brand, Neal’s Yard Remedies. I used to use this brand a lot in the beginning states of my blog, I once had a facial treatment and covered it in a blog post. The brand is an organic based holistic company that offer a wide range of products from skin care, makeup, herbal remedies and so on. They make some amazing skincare products, they are a cruelty free brand and put a lot of work into ensuring their company is environmentally conscious.

Anyhow, I was recently contacted by one of my followers Kelly Bannister. Kelly works with visually impaired young adults, making their schooling rescues accessible for them. But, Kelly also happens to be a consultant for Neal’s Yard Remedies. She asked me if I fancied trying some products to review for my blog, well since I hadn’t been in Neal’s Yard Remedies for a while I thought it would be great to try out some new skin care products by the brand.

I was kindly sent a selection of products to try out including a skin care set which I picked and a bunch of samples and a shower gel.

Starting off with my reintroduction to the brand is the Geranium & Orange Shower Gel. I’ve tried some of their shower gels in the past and I’ve always noticed how gentle they are on the skin, they aren’t to drying and leave my skin feeling very soft after using them.   I really love this fragrance on account of how uplifting and fresh it is, Geranium is typically a very floraly scent and can be overpowering however combined with the citrusy Orange scent it gives it a really fresh scent. It’s great to use in the morning as a little pick me up.

Kelly also sent a selection of skin care samples from two ranges, their Hydrating Rose Range which is ideal for young or combination skin on account of how balancing it is. The other range is the Rejuvenating Frankincense Range which is targeted towards mature skin on account of how it firms skin, brightens dull looking skin and rejuvenated the skin cells. I gave this range to my time to trial as she has more mature skin than I do, she personally loved the Frankincense Intense Cream for how hydrating it was to the skin overnight.

I also tried a selection of skin care products which were in the Award Winning Skincare Kit, this kit contains 4 travel sized award-winning skin care products. This set has a selection of skincare products which are some of Neal’s Yard Remedies’ most popular skin care products. It comes in a lovely 100% cotton bag and the products are compact travel sizes. This would make a great gift for anyone who wants to trial a selection of products from the brand or for anyone who travel a lot.

This product contains travel sizes of the White Tea Enriching Facial Mask, the Wild Rose Beauty Balm, the Beauty Sleep Concentrate and the White Tea Facial Mist.

Firstly, starting off with White Tea Enriching Facial Mask, this mask is designed to nourish and plump the skin as well as helping to reduce fine lines. Its made with White Tea which is incredibly anti-oxidising for the skin and protects it against pollutants. It also contains Kaolin which is a purifying clay and gently draws out any sebum or filaments that have got caught in the pores. It also contains Aloe and Camellia to soothe the skin, balancing Evening Primrose Oil and Rose Oil and moisturising Frankincense. I’ve used this mask a few times now and have been so incredibly impressed with the results. Because of the Kaolin it really gives me skin a deep cleanse, however the Aloe and Evening Primrose really help to soothe and balance out my skin. You apply it like a mud mask to dry skin and leave it to work for about 15 minutes before washing it off with a warm flannel. After I used it my skin felt cleansed, soothed and hydrated, what I hate with some mud based masks is how they leave my skin feeling tight and dehydrated. However, this one gave my skin a smooth texture and my skin tone looked my even. This mask is a great all-rounder, especially if you have combination or sensitive skin like myself.

Next up is the Wild Rose Beauty Balm, this is one of their cult classic products and has a cult following to go with it. It’s a multi-purpose balm that is suitable for all skin types. This balm is a little like Vaseline in the sense that you can use it for many different things. You can use it as a cleansing balm to remove your makeup, a face mask left on for 10 minutes, a gentle exfoliator or a targeted treatment balm for dry ares like the lips or elbows. Rose is a great essential oil for many different skin types it’s a natural astringent, its balancing for hormonal skin and its hydrating too. This balm also contains Shea Butter to moisturize the skin, Hemp Oil and Rosemary which are great antiseptic and anti-inflamitry ingredients and hydrating Frankincense. I really loved this mask as a cleansing balm and a lip balm, it’s incredibly soothing and hydrating on dry irritated skin. It works wonders for skin that’s feeling the strain of the cold, Autumn weather and it also works to prevent redness and irritation. It’s also mildly exfoliating, so after I use it as a cleansing balm it leaves my skin feeling very hydrated and nourished.

Next up is the Beauty Sleep Concentrate, this concentrated beauty treatment is designed to help regenerate your skin whilst you sleep and rebalance moisture levels in your skin. I use it as a serum once I’ve applied my night moisturizer. Its made with regenerative Narcissus Tazetta Bulb and anti-oxidising, tri-peptide rich Grape Seed Oil and soothing Aloe Vera. This also has a blend of essential oils including soothing Ylang Ylang and relaxing Patchouli. This feels incredibly rehydrating on the skin and always helps to soothe my skin especially at this time of year when it feels dry and tight from the effects of having the central heating on. I personally feel like it has plumped and brightened my skin, I can’t see any evidence of wrinkle smoothing as yet. But then again, I don’t have that many just yet.

Finally, we have the White Tea Facial Mist, this is basically a facial spritz to give your skin a refreshing pick me up. Its made with anti-oxidising White Tea, soothing Aloe Vera, anti-inflamitry Lavender Oil and soothing Chamomile. I really liked this mask as a quick spritz throughout the day when I’m not wearing any makeup to refresh the skin. It’s very cooling and soothing for the skin and just leaves it feeling and looking very fresh. It has a lovely scent with all the essential oils in there and its generally just a nice little treat for your skin. I also use it underneath my moisturizer on days where my skin is feeling a little irritated.

All in all, I really enjoyed revisiting Neal’s Yard Remedies and will defiantly be looking at more of their skin care products in the near future. My favourite product from what I tried is a tussle between the White Tea Enriching Facial Mask and the Beauty Sleep Concentrate. But, honestly its a brand that I do love and this review and rekindled that old love I had for the brand.
