Welcome back to Fashioneyesta!
Today I thought I’d attempt to start a regular series on my blog which is themed around one of my all time favourite topics, scent.
Scent is one of those things that can instantly transport you to a different place and time, remind you of a poignant moment in your life, help you to build memories and change the way you feel.
Scent is an incredibly powerful thing and as someone with sight loss it is something that I hold very dear to my heart. So I had this idea that every month I could share with you my favourite scent of that month and a reason why I love it so much. Whether it be a candle, perfume, bath bomb or anything else remotely scented. I thought that each month I could reveal a new discovery or and old love and share with you a reason why I love it so much.
So, without further ado, let me introduce you to my new series “Scent of the Month.”
Now, seeing as its March which will soon bring the beginning of Spring and a new season. I really wanted to acquire a new scent to add to my growing collection, I had seen the English Fields Collection from Jo Malone London and I was intrigued.
Usually intrigue and Jo Malone combined spells a disaster for my bank balance!
I have an unhealthy obsession for Jo Malone, having a huge amount of perfumes from the brand already. But, I figured one more couldn’t hurt…she convinced herself.
It was so hard to pick a favourite, there were so many each with a different structure of scents inspired by the English harvest. Anyhow, the one I ended up going for was the Primrose & Rye Cologne.
I had a feeling I would like this scent based on its fresh and sweet notes and I was right. Sweet, floral scents always smell the best on my skin and I was really delighted with the way it smelt.
This perfume has floral notes of Primrose warmed with Golden Corn, which gives it a really fresh spring time fragrance. However, after a while you get the more sweeter note of Mimosa which gives it a sweet, but fresh fragrance. Then, finally it is deepened with sweet notes of Vanilla and Rye. What I love about this perfume is that it has a beautiful fresh, springtime aroma to it. However, the sweeter notes doesn’t make it to florally, it is a beautiful combination of sweet and floral notes.
This is certainly a fragrance that I will be wearing throughout the Spring months, on account of it being so fresh and uplifting.
So for the month of March I will be welcoming the start of Spring with Jo Malone Primrose & Rye.
The English fields collection is available from Jo Malone, a 30ml bottle retails for £47. Jo Malone isn’t cheap, but it is a luxury perfumer and believe me you do get what you pay for. So if you’ve got a birthday or special occasion coming up, it might be worth having a whiff of all the new scents in this collection.
So, now onto you. What is your favourite scent for the moth of March? Let me know in the comments below.
