Now you’ll remember in my last post I talked a lot about how more fashion and beauty brands can become disability accessible.
Today I wanted to share an exciting new launch that is just that! Nike recently launched a new style of trainer called FLYEASE. This trainer has been made for the specific purpose of making it easy for wearers with disabilities and mobility impairments to be able to put on and remove the trainers with more ease.
Instead of laces trainers have been made with a zip and velcro fastening at the back. When I first wore them I was really surprised at how easy they are to put on and kick off when you get home. Yet, they felt sturdy and supportive on my feet and felt exactly the same as wearing any other Nike trainers I’ve worn in the past.
As someone with a visual impairment, who also has a issue with balance due to my illness. I really like how comfortable these shoes were and how easy they were to put one and remove. It’s a really good design and these shoes still have the same aesthetic as any regular Nike trainer.
These trainers are the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 35 FlyEase trainer. They are a sleek black trainer, with white trim and a lime green lining. A slim cord runs from the back zip to the laces which you can tighten as you need to.
I think Nike have really added a functional feature to these shoes, without having to compromise on design. They are definitely an “inclusive” trainer that still look “exclusive.” I love the colour and how they go with lots of different things in my wardrobe.
Personally, I think this is a fantastic move in the right direction and I hope more brands take their cue from Nike and work on accessibility too.
These trainers are available for Men, Women and Kids
