Curious to know some Instagramable locations in Greenwich?

Renowned for its maritime history and connection with British monarchs its no wonder that Greenwich is such a tourist hotspot.

Its historic buildings like the Naval College have served as a backdrop for many famous films from Sherlock to Marvel. But it’s also a place that is a treasure trove of photo opportunities for Instagramers.

I’m a Greenwich local, I’ve lived around the area all my life and today I’m going to be sharing my top Instagram spots as a Greenwich local.

Greenwich Park

Naturally Greenwich Park is a must for Instagramers at any time of year.

You’ll always be guaranteed to get some stunning shots from season to season. But here are some of my top suggestions.

Cherry Blossom Season

If there’s on main event that always attracts the Instagramers of London to Greenwich Park it is Cherry Blossom Season. Near the Rangers House is a walkway lined with Cherry Blossoms which begin to flower around early May.

Just be sure to get there early if you want a photo with no people in it because this is a spectacle that attracts many photographers and Instagramers to it.

Greenwich Park in the Autumn

Greenwich Park is especially beautiful during the Autumn months. It’s full of trees and shrubs that burst into shocking shades of orange and from red around late September.

Find yourself a spot with a floor of freshly fallen leaves and a view of the park in the background and get snapping!

The Cutty Sark

The Cutty Sark is a splendid piece of our Naval History which Greenwich is famously known for. The Cutty Sark is a beautiful Victorian tea clipper which boasts many of beautiful spots to photograph for photos from hull to deck.

Despite age and a previous fire, the Cutty Sark still retains many of it’s original features making it a great place to get some amazing pictures.

The Rangers House

Recently it served as the Bridgerton home in the much loved Netflix series as it was decorated with Wisteria for the show.

The Rangers House is a Georgian Villa which can be viewed from inside and outside Greenwich Park. Although the front of it was decorated for Bridgerton, usually it’s a lot plainer to look at.

During the Spring/Summer months the rose garden is in full bloom with roses and wildflowers and you are sure to get some amazing photos with a view of the house in the background.

The Royal Observatory

The Royal Observatory is a pinnacle point of Greenwich’s history. Built by Christopher Wren, this beautiful building has lots of photo taking opportunities from different angles.

Be sure to pose for a photo with the Shepherd Gate Clock which was the first installed clock to ever publicly display Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

The Painted Hall

It’s known famously as Britains “Sistine Chapel”. The Painted Hall is a stunning Baroque painted hall which was completed in 1726 by Sir James Thornhil.

Located within Greenwich University, its a stunning sight where painted murals cover the walls and ceiling. It’s an opulent place and perfect to take some shots for the gram with it’s gold accents and moody lighting.

If you pay for a ticket you can upgrade it free of charge to an annual ticket. So you can visit many times for more photo taking opportunities.

St Alfredge Passage

Located by the side of St Alfredge Church, this cobbled passageway makes the perfect location for some atmospheric shots.

With its Victorian houses and original street lamps it looks like something straight out of a Dickens book. This is the perfect place to take some whimsical shots that will look great on the grid.

The Queens House

The Queen’s House is a grand and stately building which was originally built in 1616 for King Jame’s wife Anne. It’s served as the backdrop for many period films and dramas, probably most famously was it’s recent appearance in Bridgeton.

It’s a beautiful building both inside and out and offers many stunning backdrops for Instagram photos.

For a striking photo take a photo outside the building in the passageways leading up to the house for a view of the architecture in the background.

The Creaky Shed

The Creaky Shed is one of my favourite places to get rustic, seasonal photographs for my grid.

Located in Royal Hill a short walk from the Greenwich Playhouse Theatre, this adorable green grocers is a fabulous place to get some shots outside their shop.

The shop front display is always curated with seasonal produce and decorations for different times of the year. So you’ll always be guaranteed to have a photo bursting with colour.

Just be sure to tag them on Instagram @thecreakyshed_greenwich if you take photos and always pop in and ask before you start snapping.

Greenwich is full of wonderful Instagram locations all easily accessible on foot. Everything I have listed is within a half a mile radius of each other.

Comment below if you’ve been to any of these locations and if you have any of your own to add to the list.
