How I Shop at TK Maxx *

Greetings Readers!

TK Maxx recently invited me to check out their new store that recently launched in Oxford Street. It hosts four floors of fashion, beauty and homeware.

As you probably know, TK Maxx is a company that sells a variety of designer brands at discounted prices at up to 60% the retailer price. Theres such a wide variety of brands both well known and niche and the stock is constantly changing.

But when it comes to TK Maxx it can be rather overwhelming when you first walk in to racks upon racks of clothes and shelves of goods. The new Oxford Street store has the added bonus of having multiple floors where things are organised, so its a bit more easier to negotiate the sections.

I always treat shopping in TK Maxx as I would going to a market or a sample sale. I go into the shopping experience with an open mind and simply see what happens. Of course you can have a vague idea of what you want, TK Maxx is bound to have something akin to what you are searching for. I remember when I was looking for a straw tote bag I went in and found a whole selection of beautiful straw bags. I was utterly spoilt for choice.

So here are a few of my personal tips for shopping at TK Maxx….

My first tip is to find out what day your local TK Maxx gets it’s weekly delivery. As a rule TK Maxx stores tend to get deliveries on a Thursday which is when a fresh batch of stock will be in. But, always check for variations just in case.

My next tip is to head into your TK Maxx store with an open mind, have a vague idea of what you’d like to find. But, it’s never a good idea to go in with a specific shopping list. I tend to shop for homeware and gifts at Christmas, but I tend to look for brands that I like over specific products.

My next tip is to regularly check on the TK Maxx website to see what’s on offer. This will give you an idea of what you might find in store, but this doesn’t necessarily guarantee you will find what’s online in store. However, I have often found things in store that were available online too.

My next tip is not to impulse buy, I know its tempting. Often when we head into a TK Maxx it can be so enticing to spend money on random things we see. But, it defeats the object if you are going to find a “bargain” if you buy something that you probably won’t end up using. So really make sure you ask yourself “do I really want this?” before putting it in your basket.

Now I have heard that it’s best to work your way through homeware, then beauty, finally finishing with clothing. However, I tend to do this in the opposite order. Why you ask? Well, because I’m the girl who loads her basket with dozens of candles and homeware items and if I did they I wouldn’t have the energy to haul a heavy basket through clothing rails. So, I tend to leave the homeware and the ensuing scented candle haul until last.

When we come into a new season, I always shop early for new homeware and decorations for my house. I’ve come to learn with T K Maxx that if you leave it for too long into a season a lot of the seasonal homeware sells out very fast. So, if you’re in the market for a pumpkin scented candle or some halloween lanterns for your house, go sooner rather than later. The same applies for Christmas, its better to shop earlier rather than later otherwise you will miss out.

I love to shop in TK Maxx for scented candles, especially in the Autumn/Winter months. I find they always have such a large selection of different brands on offer. I also love to shop in TK Maxx for accessories, their bag selection always seems to tempt me when I walk in. But, one of my favourite sections in TK Maxx is beauty, they always have an interesting selection of brands in skincare, makeup, haircare and body care. It’s always nice to pick up some new sheet masks to try out.

TK Maxx also has a really good selection of gifts from fancy coffees, food, fragrance, beauty gift sets and homeware. It’s great if your shopping on a budget and still want to buy someone a luxury gift.

During my recent visit to the TK Maxx in Oxford Street I was very impressed with their homeware section. They had a great selection of Autumn throws, candles and decorations. I also came across a great selection of women’s knitwear in an array of great designs, perfect for the colder weather.

Shopping at TK Maxx can be so much fun. There are so many brands on offer in one place so you’re bound to see things you love. But, equally you’ll always be able to find something new and try brands you hadn’t known about before.

My number one rule for TK Maxx is to just have fun!
