Greetings Readers! As you may have gathered todays installment on fashioneyesta.com has something to do with all things sweet and theatrical…that is, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Yesterday I had a truly spectacular day shopping up at Covent Garden, afternoon tea with my mum and of course watching one of the most fantastic musicals to date.

Pink Afternoon Tea at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Leicester Square

The afternoon tea was a little steal, a voucher deal found on lastminute.com. 
The afternoon tea consisted of a well appointed table and a three tiered stand full of delicious, pink little treats.
There was…
-A choice of tea or coffee in a number of blends and types.
-Freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry and raspberry jam.
-A selection of finger sandwiches such as cucumber, ham, salmon and egg mayonnaise.
-Rose flavoured jelly with Summer fruit.
-A selection of cakes.
-Pink meringue with raspberry cream.

The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, the food was simply scrumptious and it put me in the mood for later events to come that evening..
Shopping in Covent Garden
We then had a stroll up to Covent Garden where we pursued the markets and found some truly amazing little shops.
What I bought
–Jo Malone Orange Blossom perfume
-Perspex brooch of a cat sitting on a chair.
-Bee shaped brooch.
-Silk painted scarf with vibrant dragonflies on the front.

Something struck me when I watched in fascination as my childhood favourite of Roald Dahl come to life on stage. There was always a song from the film musical that stuck rigidly in my mind as I grew up with my sight loss and in many ways learn to live alongside it.
Imagination is one of the most powerful things in life, it’s what gives us individuality in mind and spirit, its what derives up from animals, and it can conquer any barrier that you face in the external world.
For me, sight loss was not the end of my world, I used books as a way to fill my mind with images of the external world and to create ones that were not.
In fact, it was only the beginning and the words of Roald Dahl and his amazing descriptions, revolting rhymes, and inspiring stories helped me to develop as an individual and to appreciate the world around me.
So, I extend a thank you to Roald Dahl and all of his amazing creations that were a massive building block in my childhood and to Warner Brothers for the amazing film adaptation that inspired me to use my mind.
And so I leave you all to deliberate on these words…
