Trying the Pixi Milky Skincare Collection*

11th March 2020

Greetings Readers!

Pixi recently came out with a new skincare range called the Milky Collection. This collection is described to be targeted towards soothing and calming irritated and dry skin. I’ve tried many of Pixi skincare products in the past and I always find it interesting to test new ranges to see how they compare with others.

Despite the name the new Milky Collection is 100% Vegan. The range is made with ingredients like oat extract, jojoba seed oil, coconut oil and probiotics. Oats act as an anti-inflammatory, whilst coconut oil and jojoba seed oil acts to hydrate the skin.

This range covers a variety of steps in your skincare routine, from your initial makeup removal right through to treating and moisturising the skin.

Hydrating Milky Makeup Remover

This makeup remover contains both liquid and oil, so the oil and liquid can separate. You have to shake the bottle thoroughly before using it to mix the oil and liquid together. Then pour some on a cotton pad and remove your makeup.

This works particularly well for the eyes, especially if you like wearing a lot of eye makeup and your eyes are prone to getting irritated from excess rubbing. Like everything from this range, this product has a very clean fresh smell. It has a distinctive floral undertone which is refreshing to use.

I really like using this to get rid of eye makeup, but equally for the rest of my makeup. The oil from the coconut oil and jojoba oil really works to break down and remove makeup. However, it still leaves the skin feeling smooth and clean without the feeling of residue on the skin.

Hydrating Milky Cleanser

Now this is one of the only products from the range that I have some reservations on. To me, the product is rather the opposite to the name. When I first used it I was expecting it to be very thick and hydrating. When in fact it is a lot more cleansing than I expected.

A pea sized amount is all you need and it foams up to a very soapy lather. It is very cleansing on the skin and you have to be careful to avoid your eyes or it can sting slightly.

Although I do like how cleansing this product is and how long lasting it is. If you have dry or sensitive skin I wouldn’t recommend this as a hydrating, gentle cleanser.

A 135ml tube retails for £18.

Hydrating Milky Peel

Now this is a very unique product that has joined the sensitive skincare market. Usually people who have sensitive skin find using peels very difficult on account of how astringent they can be. However, Pixi came out with this milky peel which has been designed for sensitive skin in mind.

This is a micro-peeling cream that helps remove dead skin. You apply a thin layer to cleansed skin and leave it on for 3 minutes. Then once your time is up you remove it with a face cloth and continue with the rest of you skincare routine.

This cream is formulated with a natural cellulose, coconut oil and probiotics. As well as willow bark and cinnamon extract. Compared to other facial peel I have used in the past, this one has a distinctive difference in texture. The exfoliating needs are a lot thicker and less abrasive.

It feels very gentle on the skin and I never feel that my skin experiences any irritation afterwards like I can experience with other peels. I’m able to apply serums and moisturisers straight away afterwards without experiencing any discomfort or burning sensation like I have in the past.

So if you have sensitive skin and you are in the market for a facial peel I would definitely recommend this one.

A 80ml tube retails for £24.

Milky Tonic

Now I’ve tried every Pixi toner they’ve come up with and my favourite will always be the Rose Tonic. However, this one is fairly similar in terms of how it made my skin feel after using it. It is very mild and gentle on the skin, which works perfectly if you have sensitivity or dry skin.

It contains oat extract to sooth inflammation and jojoba oil to nourish the skin.

What I would say about the Milky Tonic is that its incredibly gentle. So if you want a toner that is soothing and easy on the skin this may be one to try.

A 100ml bottle retails for £10.

Hydrating Milky Serum

Compared to other Pixi serums I have tried, this serum is notably thicker. It contains rose flower extract, jojoba oil and Aloe Vera as well as glycerine to lock in moisture.

When I first apply this product to my skin it does feel a little tacky. So I always leave it a few minutes for my skin to absorb it before applying my moisturiser. However, I will say that this serum really does feel like it is actually doing something to my skin. My skin feels smooth, hydrated and soft and it feels softer for a lot longer.

If you have dry skin and you are looking for a serum that packs a little bit more of a punch this does a pretty good job!

A 30ml bottle retails for £24.

Hydrating Milky Lotion

This lotion can be used on both the face and the body; ideal for when you are traveling to just pop in your toiletry bag.

It contains a variety of hydrating ingredients including: shea butter, coconut oil, cocoa seed oil, sweet almond oil and black oat extract. It feels lightweight on the skin, but still hydrates it at the same time. A little really does go a long way with this product and your skin still feels hydrated even hours after applying it. It glides onto the skin and absorbs pretty quickly too.

I personally have combination skin, that is also prone to irritation and I absolutely love this product. Out of everything I tried from this range this was probably my most favourite thing that I tried.

It has a lovely texture, it smells clean and it makes my skin feel very soft. I would highly recommend giving the Hydrating Milky Lotion from Pixi a try!

A 135ml tube retailers for £24.
