Today its time for yet another skincare blog!
For Christmas my mother gifted me a lovely skincare gift set from Farmacy. I had been wanting to try this brand for some time now and I thought I’d give you my verdict on the products I have tried so far from this brand. The set contained 3 of their bestselling products including their Green Clean Cleansing Balm, their Honey Drop moisturiser and their Honey Potion face mask.
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t enticed by the allure of the botanical and bee themed packaging. But, the brand ethos sounded very much up my alley and I was intrigued to find out more.
Who Are Farmacy?
Farmacy is a skincare brand that champions the power of naturally derived ingredients in skincare. They source their ingredients from local farms using sustainable methods. They are a US based brand as far as I know that are now stocked on places like Cult Beauty and Look Fantastic. Their products are paraben free, mineral oil free, fragrance free and not tested on animals.
What I Tried?
Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm
This is known to be one of the brands bestselling products, whenever I searched this brand this was always one of the top results. I’m a massive advocate of double cleansing and I’m always on the hunt for new cleansing balms to try. The Green Clean Cleansing Balm comes in 2 sizes: a 100ml will cost you £32 or a 50ml will cost £24. Now I will agree that is expensive for a cleansing balm when there are many other more affordable contenders out there. But I’ll say from my first initial use of the product that I really enjoyed using it.
It’s very quick and easy to use, it instantly turns into an oil from a solid balm and glides over the skin. You don’t need to use a lot to remove your makeup and it washes off easily, leaving no oily residue on the skin.
It has a nice ingredients list containing moringa oil, sunflower root, ginger root, papaya extract and a blend of lime, bergamot and orange oils. It has a delicate, yet not overpowering scent and my skin felt smooth and cleansed afterwards. Everything comes off with this balm, eyeliner, mascara and glitter eyeshadow.
All in all it’s a really nice cleansing balm and I’ve enjoyed using it. It’s the one certain thing out of everything that I can say I’d buy again.
Honey Drop Lightweight Moisturising Cream
Next product is another bestseller from the brand that I’ve heard a lot of people mention. The Honey Drop Lightweight Moisturiser is a lightweight moisturiser that can be used at night and is targeted towards people who don’t like thick moisturisers. A 50ml size costs £42 so again certainly more of a mid range price tag.
I was a bit skeptical at first, I didn’t know how “lightweight” a honey based moisturiser could be. Honey is a natural humectant designed to keep moisture in and I initially thought the moisturiser would be a sticky texture. But it actually isn’t! It’s incredibly lightweight and a liquid based moisturiser. The consistency really reminds me of the Glow Recipe Watermelon Overnight Mask.
I have been using it over the last few nights especially as I’ve been having issues with normal breakouts. It skins into the skin really quickly and works well with my water based serums.
The ingredients lists features a range of moisture locking ingredients like honey, royal jelly, hyaluronic acid and cupuaçu butter. Yet despite this, Farmacy has managed to make the formula lightweight.
I’d say if you prefer a more liquid based moisturiser or you don’t like anything to heavy in consistency this would be something well suited to you.
For me, I would tend to use this during those periods where my skin is suffering from breakouts or congestion and change it with a more thicker moisturiser on alternative nights.
Honey Potion Antioxidant Hydration Mask
This mask is a self heating mask, warming on skin contact; it’s particularly suited to combating dry, dull skin. The first time I used it was on wet, just cleansed skin and I’ll be honest it felt a little bit to warm. However, since then I’ve tried it on cleansed, toned skin that I’ve left to settle for a few minutes and the results were totally different. It really works well for my skin being dry and more on the combination side. At this time of year my skin gets very dry and dehydrated and so this mask works really well to combat that.
This mask contains honey, propolis and royal jelly; all of which are cell renewing, hydrating and brightening ingredients. I left this on for half an hour and once I washed it off my skin felt smooth and any dry patches I had felt significantly more even.
All in all
I was pretty impressed with the products I tried, out of everything my favourite would have to be the Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm. I love how these products have formulas that can work for a variety of different skin types including oily and acne prone skin.
