A review of the new Spring Bloom Collection from Peak District Candle Company featuring five new spring scents.

Greetings Readers!

I’m sure it comes as no surprise to a lot of you that I’m a huge lover of fragrance and scented candles.

But also, we haven’t delved into a small, independent brand in a hot minute, so today I’m going to be talking about one of my favourite candle brands – Peak District Candle Company.

This is a brand I discovered earlier last year after receiving a candle for my birthday and I’ve been pretty much hooked ever since.

If you want a good quality, luxury feeling candle brand without the hefty price tag, then this is a brand you need to try.

Peak District Candle Company was set up by Anna during the pandemic who wanted to create a candle brand inspired by nature.

“i started the business during lockdown after spending several years candle making as a hobby.

I wanted to create a luxury yet affordable home fragrance brand that takes its inspiration from nature and the world around us.”

Anna, Owner of Peak District Candle Company

I’ve tried quite a lot of the seasonal candles that Anna makes and today I wanted to take you through the new Spring collection.

I have five of the six new candles in this collection: two I bought myself and three were gifted to me after I won a giveaway.

The candles retail for £15 each, are all made with soy wax and are claimed to have 40 hours burning time.

Today I’ll be talk about the five different ones I have and my thoughts on them:

I absolutely love how Anna has made each of these candles a different pastel shade, it’s so pleasing to the eye and makes me think of ice creams and beach huts.

Bluebell Woods

Out of all the candles in this collection, this one has to be my personal favourite.

Bluebell Woods Candle

I think it’s the most authentic smelling out of all the candles and is very reminiscent of the smell of a bluebell woods.

It contains top notes of bluebell and hyacinth, as well as heart notes of lavender, rose and jasmine and a base of musk.

As you can imagine, this candle is a very floral fragrance, however I would personally describe it as more of a fresh floral scent.

Bluebell is a very distinctive scent and that is the first thing I can distinctly smell from this candle.

Cherry Blossom

Out of all the candles, I’d say this is the most complex out of all the fragrances and you can really smell the different notes it contains.

It has top notes of apple, orange and aniseed, heart notes of lily, jasmine, clove and cinnamon and base notes of patchouli, vanilla, caramel, and musk.

When I smell this I can really detect those more sweet and spicey notes coming through.

The scent is a mix of floral, sweet, and also a muskier undertone that reminds me of the smell on incense.

I say that this is a good option for someone who isn’t a fan of overly floral fragrances.

Daffodil

I would describe this as a very fresh scent which would probably suit anyone who likes those types of candles with descriptions like “clean cotton” or “fresh linen.”

It definitely has that “I just got out of the shower” scent to it and it would make a lovely scent to have in the hallway or whatever room guests might be using.

It’s described as a “green leafy” scent, and you can definitely smell those more fresh, green notes that make it more of a fresh fragrance despite its floral name.

It contains top notes of green leaves and lily, heart notes of rose and sunflower and base notes of violet, iris, patchouli, and musk.

Spring Meadow

This candle is described as a “powdery soft, woody floral fragrance.”

The top notes of this fragrance are musk and amber, along with heart notes of meadow lily, jasmine, neroli and iris wood and a base of vanilla.

This candle definitely has a warmer undertone with the amber and the musk which works really well against the floral heart notes.

This is my mother’s favourite candle out of the collection which she described as a “warm hug” in a candle.

Wild Flower

Out of all the candles this definitely has the sweetest scent which would be well suited to anyone who prefers more sweeter scents around the house.

It’s blended with top notes of bergamot and apple skin, heart notes of lily and rose and base notes of vanilla, patchouli, sandalwood, and musk.

This is described as “a sweet floral bouquet with a twist” and although I can smell the more floral notes, for me the sweetness of the apple skin and the bergamot really come through.

So whilst Bluebell Woods was my absolute favourite, this came in at a very close second.
