Changing Perceptions on Sight Loss in Style
So with Father’s Day coming up on Sunday 21st of June, it marks that time of year again to show appreciation to that special man in your life.
I know for many this Father’s Day will be a different one. As many won’t be able to visit their families this year.
But that doesn’t meant to say you can’t let them know you are thinking about them or show them how much you love them.
One thing I have really struggled with this year for birthdays and special ocassions alike is card giving. This is why I’m such a huge fan of Moonpig to be able to send cards and gifts to my loved ones in lockdown this year.
For Father’s Day this year I teamed up with Moonpig, who very kindly gifted me a £50 gift token to shop for some Father’s Day gifts from their range. Moonpig are fantastic for cards and gifts, they have a huge variety of different cards to choose from and they have gifts ranging from food and drink to candles and flowers. Their delivery is quick and you can order cards and gifts to arrive straight to the person’s door.
Another great thing about Moonpig is they have a really user friendly and accessible App which I use to browse gifts and write cards. Being visually impaired, I find handwriting cards to be very difficult. So using the App is a really easy alternative for me to send cards.
My dad, Paul, is a key worker, he works as a telecommunications engineer. Over the course of the Coronavirus outbreak he has been going to work everyday, helping the community stay connected. My dad is really the pillar of strength in our household.
He’s the one who always puts things right and turns negatives into positives. I’ve always admired my dad for his ability to work hard at everything he does and apply himself to any situation. But, especially in these hard times I am incredibly proud of my dad for the work he does. I often hear stories of how customers write in to his company to sing his praises as a skilled, efficient engineer. He always goes out of his way to ensure everyone gets their phones and internet connections up and running. But especially now and so he really does deserve a treat for his hard work.
My dad loves to cook and he really enjoys having good quality wines to go with his dishes. So this year I treated him to a box of Thornton & France Red Wine and Chocolate Truffles RRP £30. As well as a bottle of El Domador de fuego Rioja that he can enjoy with a meal and a good box set.
Note that I use the word “good” very loosely, as my idea of a good box set certainly isn’t his!
For this years card selection, I went with a cute animated looking card which showcases my dad’s impressive skills with a drill and hammer. My dad is exceptionally good at DIY and his efforts keeps the house looking in tip top condition.
Shopping for gifts for my dad can be a bit of a stress inducing task, to put it delicately. My dad has very specific tastes. He’s rather like Ratty from Wind and the Willows. Like Ratty, my dad enjoys his creature comforts and taking time to enjoy the tranquility of his own world.
But, luckily for me Moonpig have a really wide range of gifts for Father’s Day, from food and drink, to fun games, novelty gifts and themed gifts. So there really is something to suit every fellow out there, no matter what they like.
