It’s safe to say that the region of Haute-Savoie in France captured a little piece of myself in a way that no other place in the world has speaking to the cottagecore girl in me.

With it’s fairytale castles that inspired Disney and postcard perfect views of the mountains, it’s easy to imagine yourself wafting through this beatiful setting in a flowing dress like Julie Andrew’s in The Sound of Music.
Nestled in the French Alps just east of Geneva, Haute-Savoie isn’t just a ski destination.
In the warmer months, it reveals a softer, quieter side filled with tiny villages, glacial lakes, and old-world charm. If your idea of the perfect holiday includes cobbled streets, lakeside picnics, rustic food, and slow mornings, this is the place to go.
Evian-les-Bains, famous for its iconic mineral water, dates back to the 18th century and its beautiful architecture combined with its breathtaking mountain views, is certainly worth visiting, with easy links by boat from Geneva.

With its mineral springs and grand 19th-century architecture, Évian-les-Bains feels like something out of a vintage novel. Perched on the edge of Lake Geneva, it’s a serene town perfect for wandering and soaking in the old-world elegance.

The nearby Lake is a hive of activity where you can take a wooden boat out onto the lake to enjoy views of the turqouise waters and paraguliders.

One of France’s official “most beautiful villages,” Yvoire sits on the shores of Lake Geneva and feels like a step into the 14th century with its cobbled streets and flowers making it feel like something out of a Disney set.

Set within the Aravis Mountains, La Clusaz offers all the charm of an Alpine village without the crowds. It’s a place for gentle hikes, fresh farm produce, an plenty of cheese.
