On Instagram you may have heard terms like “seasonal creator” or “seasonal living” being used to describe people’s content.
These days a lot of Instagramers who are, like me, taking Mother Nature as their grid planner and content manager. The reality is, sometimes it can be difficult planning your grid and often it’s easier to use the changing seasons as your aesthetic queue.
Using the colours, flowers and seasonal produce in your grid to mark each season can be a fun and creative way to always make sure your grid is bursting with colour and full of interest.
Here are some of my top tips on how to be a seasonal content creator.
When planning out your Instagram as a seasonal creator. It’s good practice to get into the habit of planning out your diary for the year ahead.
Take note of different seasonal events like the official dates each season changes, public holidays, flowers in bloom and local events like festivals and flower shows.
Look on websites for local farms, nature reserves and landscape gardens to see when seasonal blooms and produce will be in season to make a plan for when to visit them.

Check out your local pick your own farms during the different seasons. Keep a look out on their social media and websites to see when new crops are ready to harvest. Try and go early so the crop if at it’s best and in abidance. From May to October onwards there’s always something to pick.
Go strawberry picking in June, apple picking in September and pumpkin picking in October. Locations like these will give you an abundance of colour to add to your grid right through the Summer and Autumn months.
Your local woods always has plenty to offer during every season.
During the Spring you can always find the first signs of life as bulbs begin to spring up rom the earth.
During the Summer the woods are always full of beautiful wildflowers like Cow Parsley, Forget Me Nots and Foxgloves.
Autumn is always the season of colour as the trees turn to vibrant shades of red and gold and ripened blackberries ready for picking.
Finally Winter is the season of red holly berries and glistening frost on the evergreen leaves
In truth, the woods are always a great place to take photos during every season and its a wonderful palce to capture every single season at it’s best in the same place.
The good thing about flowers is that there’s always something different on offer during most months of the year. Beginning with Snow Drops in January and continuing right through to Hellebores in November.

When taking photographs indoors get creative with seasonal props. Look for things that represent each season to showcase what month it is.
Incorporate flowers, leaves and seasonal produce into your photos to represent the changing seasons. Think about the use of colour and lighting to convey different seasons.
Even if you can’t go to a location to shoot, always try and capture the season in the props you use.
Being a seasonal content creator on Instagram is essentially about planning and creativity.
It’s time consuming, but the results are incredibly rewarding and ultimately you will end up with a very colourful feed that showcases the seasons at their best.
