A Luxurious Stay at The Queensberry Hotel in Bath with a Michelin-starred Restaurant

11th April 2025

If you’re seeking a boutique hotel in Bath that seamlessly combines historic charm with modern luxury, look no further than The Queensberry Hotel.

Greetings, Readers!

I recently took a UK minibreak to the beautiful city of Bath in South West England—just an hour and 15 minutes by train from London.

If you’re looking for a place to stay in this stunning city, renowned for its Georgian architecture, Roman Baths, and natural thermal spring waters, The Queensberry Hotel is a worthy candidate.

Pultney Bridge

I spent a few nights at this charming boutique hotel in Bath, which beautifully combines historic character with modern luxury, all set within a former Georgian townhouse.

Located just a stone’s throw from The Circus and The Royal Crescent, the hotel is a great base for exploring the city. It’s tucked just far enough away from the main hustle and bustle to feel like a peaceful retreat, yet still within ten minutes’ walk of all the major attractions.

This luxury hotel in Bath features 27 individually designed rooms, a secluded outdoor garden, a stylish bar lounge, and The Olive Tree—Bath’s one and only Michelin-starred restaurant.

The Room

We stayed in the Four Poster Suite, a spacious and luxurious room on the ground floor, featuring a large four-poster bed and a freestanding roll-top bath.

The room was both elegant and comfortable, with all the modern touches you’d expect—including a vanity area with a Dyson hairdryer, two separate sinks, a walk-in shower, and a cosy lounge space.

Room prices at The Queensberry Hotel typically start from around £145 per night, with suites ranging up to £400+, depending on the season and availability.

The Hotel

Some of my personal highlights of this period townhouse hotel were its beautiful courtyard garden and the inviting bar area.

The courtyard is well tended and makes for the perfect spot to kick back with a drink after a day spent exploring the city. It’s quiet, green, and feels like a hidden gem.

The Bae

Inside, the hotel has an old-school charm with contemporary flourishes—plenty of character without feeling dated. The lounges and bar offer plenty of comfy corners to curl up with a book or sip on a cocktail.

Food & Drink

Breakfast is served between 7:30 am and 10:00 am in the on-site restaurant, with a broad range of options available—including continental and cooked choices like Eggs Benedict and a classic Full English.

Rather than a buffet, breakfast is served à la carte, and guests are given a £25 allowance per person toward their morning meal.

Breakfast in Bed

If you prefer a slower start to the day, you can also order room service breakfast by filling out the card in your room and hanging it outside your door the night before. It’s a thoughtful touch that adds to the relaxed vibe of the hotel.

I particularly enjoyed the homemade crumpets and the Eggs Benedict—simple, but perfectly done.

Later in the day, you can order food and drinks from the bar menu, which includes a nice range of cocktails and small plates. There’s also a cozy lounge where you can enjoy teas, coffees, or cold drinks while flicking through a magazine.

The Olive Tree

One of the absolute highlights of my stay was dinner at The Olive Tree, Bath’s only Michelin-starred restaurant, located within the hotel.

The restaurant offers a refined, seasonally changing menu crafted by Chef Chris Cleghorn, who places a strong emphasis on working with local suppliers. Dining here felt more like a culinary journey than just a meal—each dish beautifully presented, with waiters adding finishing touches at the table.

Some standout dishes from the current menu included the Cornish Kern Ravioli and the Orkney scallops with wasabi and yuzu.

Tasting menus start at £60 for two courses, with the full experience reaching up to £190. You can also opt for a wine pairing, which I highly recommend. The selection was thoughtfully curated and elevated each dish perfectly, featuring wines from a variety of countries and regions.

An Austentatiois Weekene

Between the food, service, and atmosphere, it was genuinely one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had in the UK.
